Cristina M. Miller · Special Education Advocate
Services
You don’t need to know the right acronym to ask the right question. I help families understand special education records, identify gaps, prepare clear requests, and work toward practical next steps.
Nationwide: document-based advocacy
Available remotely for families throughout the United States. Services are tailored to your state’s rules and individual situation.
- IEP review: goals, services, accommodations, progress monitoring, and alignment with documented needs.
- Evaluation review: plain-language findings, follow-up questions, and requests for additional evaluation as appropriate.
- State-specific research: locating and organizing relevant education rules and parent guidance.
- Written correspondence: letters and emails requesting evaluations, services, meetings, records, or implementation of agreed supports.
- Transition planning: preparing for school transitions, adulthood, and greater independence.
Massachusetts & New Jersey: direct advocacy
In Massachusetts and New Jersey, I can offer additional hands-on school advocacy, depending on location, timing, and the family’s needs.
- Pre-meeting strategy, agenda development, and parent priority statements.
- Participation in IEP and other special education meetings, remotely or in person as agreed.
- Communication with school teams and district staff, with parent authorization.
- Review of meeting outcomes, written notices, service delivery questions, and follow-up correspondence.
- Support organizing concerns or disagreements, including preparing documentation and written requests.
Transition planning & practical independence
For students preparing for a new school, postsecondary programs, employment, or adult services, I help families organize the conversation about what comes next. That may include transition-focused IEP goals, self-advocacy, executive functioning supports, and coordination questions to bring to the right agencies.
A clear scope. A sensible fee.
Fees depend on the documents, meetings, and research involved. Reduced-fee services are available for qualifying households earning less than $85,000 annually. I’ll explain the proposed work and estimated cost before we begin.
Important: I am an education advocate, not an attorney. I do not provide legal representation or guarantee a particular educational outcome.
